VI Bancaja Digital Photography Competition

All participants in the competition are required to accept these rules in full.

First.- Participants

The competition is open to any person over the age of 18 and resident in Spain, with the exception of the employees (and their immediate families) of Bancaja and of other companies directly involved in the competition.

Second.- Subject Matter

The competition has an open subject matter. Images which infringe the right to personal and familiar honour and privacy or personal image rights will not be accepted or published. In summary, no images which contravene the current legislation will be accepted.

Third.- Works

Participants may submit a maximum of 3 photographs.

Photos taken by persons other than the author or which do not belong to the author will not be accepted.

Photos may not be altered electronically or by any other means. Photomontages will not be accepted. Minimum colour-and light-corrections will be allowed.

Photos that have already won awards will not be accepted.

The participant states and guarantees before BANCAJA that he/she is the sole holder of all the rights corresponding to the photos presented in the Competition and assumes full responsibility in relation to the non-existence of third-party rights over the presented works, as well for all claims received from third parties in relation to any such rights.

Fourth.- How to Participate

The Competition is only open to photos taken with digital cameras and which comply with the following conditions:

  • They must be presented JPG format.
  • They must have a minimum size of 1,024 x 1,024 pixels.
  • The file size must not exceed 5 Megabytes (Mb).

Participants who do not observe the aforementioned conditions will be automatically disqualified.

Identification and remittance

To participate in the competition, visit www.concursofotografiabancaja.com and complete the entry form. You may attach your photos to the form. Participants must provide the following details:

  • Name and surname(s) of the participant
  • Nick (the participant’s alias or pseudonym)
  • ID number (NIF/NIE)
  • Contact email address
  • Contact telephone number
  • Camera model
  • Image title

Exhibition of images

Bancaja will analyse all the photos received prior to their exhibition in website gallery.

Bancaja will reject any photos which do not meet the minimum standards of quality, which are deemed to be in bad taste or which are offensive to the persons represented in the same. The photos received will be submitted to pre-selection process that will be carried out as quickly as possible. Thus, the photos will not be published immediately in the website.

The organizers of the Competition will not answer any telephone calls or respond to any oral or written requests relative to the development of the Competition. The participants must await the publication of the jury’s decision.

The images may be consulted in the Competition Photo Gallery and scores may be freely awarded by the visitors to the Competition Website. Such votes will in no way be taken into account by the jury when debating their decision.

Participants accept that their photos will be visible on the official Bancaja Digital Photography Competition website and via the Competition’s social network channels (Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr). Bancaja will not use the photos submitted to the Competition for commercial purposes nor make them available in any physical or digital formats, other than those stated.

Admission date

Original photos may be submitted between 1st September 2010 and 30th November 2010, inclusive.

Fifth.- Jury decision

The jury will reach a decision on 13th January 2011. Should the jury decide that none of the works presented comply with the applicable standards of quality, no prizes will be awarded.

The jury will employ the criteria of creativity and photographic quality when evaluating the works submitted. The winners will be selected at the discretion of the jury, the decision of which will be final and unappealable.

Sixth.- Prizes

Three prizes will be awarded in the general category:

  • 1st Prize: 5,000 Euros
  • 2nd Prize: 3,000 Euros
  • 3rd Prize: 1,000 Euros

In the event of any of the Prize winners being a client of Bancaja, the Prize in question will be increased by 2,000 Euros, as follows:

  • 1st Prize: 7,000 Euros
  • 2nd Prize: 5,000 Euros
  • 3rd Prize: 3,000 Euros

A client of Bancaja is defined as any individual who is the title holder or joint title holder of a Bancaja current account or bankbook on the date upon which the jury reaches its final decision. Representatives of or persons related to Bancaja current accounts or bankbooks will not be considered Bancaja clients.

Additionally, 1 Special Prize will be awarded to the best photo submitted by a participant aged 65 or over and pertaining to the Club Servicio Pensión Bancaja on the date upon which the jury reaches its final decision. The winner of the Club Servicio Pensión Bancaja Special Prize will be awarded 2,000 Euros.

The winning photos of any of the first 3 prizes will not be eligible for the aforementioned Special Prize.

Bancaja reserves the right to publish or reproduce, on its own behalf or by means of third parties, without time limitation and in any place, the four winning photos, citing in all cases the names of the respective authors.

Seventh.- Incompatibilities.

No single participant may win more than one Prize. In the event of one participant’s photos winning more than one category, the participant in question will only have the right to receive the Prize corresponding to the greatest amount.

No Prizes will be awarded to any participants who hold debts with Bancaja for any liquid, matured and enforceable amount. Therefore, any participant who, having complied with all the conditions established in relation to the participation in the Competition and having been awarded a Prize, acquires the condition of debtor before Bancaja for any liquid, matured and enforceable amount subsequent to their participation must liquidate the corresponding outstanding debt prior to the reception of the Prize in question. Should, upon the date established for the awarding of Prizes, the participant have failed to liquidate the debt in question, he/she will forfeit the condition of Prize Winner and the corresponding Prize will be awarded to the corresponding Runner-up.

Eighth.- Awarding of prizes.

Having verified the compliance of the Prize Winners with the requisites established in these Conditions, Bancaja will publish the list of definitive Prize Winners in its website (www.bancaja.es) and that of the Digital Photography Competition (www.concursofotografiabancaja.com), together with the procedure to be followed in order to formalise the awarding of the prizes, in accordance with these Conditions.

Within 15 days as of the aforementioned publication via the Bancaja website, the Prize Winners must submit written acceptance of the corresponding prizes. As of the reception of such acceptance, the Participants will be informed of the procedure to be followed in order to formalize the awarding of the prizes. Should, upon expiry of the acceptance period, any client have failed to submit acceptance of the prize in writing, the participant in question will be understood to have relinquished his/her right to the prize in question, without the right to compensation.

Ninth.- Considerations relative to the prizes.

The relinquishment of a prize, independently of the motivating reason, will not grant the prize winner the right to any type of compensation. Prizes are subject to the applicable legislation.

Tenth.- Use for publicity reasons of winners’ names and Data Protection.

Upon the awarding of the prizes, Bancaja will obtain the express consent of the prize winners to access their personal data and to process the same for the purpose of publicising the result of the promotion. In doing so, Bancaja will employ the names and the images of the prize winners, without such use conferring the right to any remuneration or benefit of any kind. Participation in this competition implies the acceptance of this clause.

The title holder of the personal data may exercise his/her right to access, rectify, cancel, as well as revoke his/her consent relative to the remittance of commercial communications by sending a letter or e-mail to the any of the following address: BANCAJA, holder of Tax ID number (C.I.F.) G-46002804, with registered offices in Castellón de la Plana, Caballeros, 2.

The aforementioned request must contain the following information:

  • Name, surname(s), cell phone number and/or email address and ID number (DNI),
  • An indication of the requested right and the content of the request.
  • A notification address

Eleventh.- Interpretation.

Bancaja reserves the right to interpret these conditions, and the participants, by virtue of their respective participation, will accept any such interpretation.

Bancaja may withdraw prizes from any clients who make fraudulent use of the same.
